My work aims to be colourful, dramatic and sometimes whimsical, whether
I take a representational or an abstract approach. I like to let the subject matter determine the style. Land- and seascapes of the imagination;
birds, animals and plants are my mainstay, but it is not unusual for me to be
inspired by a single colour or mood - and this will lend itself to a more
conceptual approach.

Nichola Malpas studied painting at the Melbourne
State College (1973-75) and Melbourne University (Fine Arts and Middle Eastern
Studies l977-79).
Nichola has also taught art to children through the
Rosanna Community House, designing and
implementing the concept and curriculum for “Art for
Kids” – a new course in painting and drawing for
children.
Nichola is a full time painter, she has also
published poetry and worked as a freelance, graphic artist and
illustrator. Her talent and
illustrative skills have led to
many private commissions of paintings.
Her exhibitions provide a visual feast of
wonderfully vibrant paintings that highlight
her fertile imagination and exceptional talent with abstract and semi abstract landscapes centred around the exploration
of colours and their natural antiphony.
